About the candidate
John Vogel
Blue-collar public works professional. Husband. Father. District 4 candidate.
Not a Career Politician
My name is John Vogel. I'm a blue-collar public works professional, a husband, and a father. For the last 15 years, I've worked in public infrastructure as a Supervisor — the kind of work that keeps communities functioning every day.
I've helped manage a $27 million public agency budget for a local Special Services Sanitary District, balancing regulatory requirements, infrastructure needs, and ratepayer impacts. I currently serve as Vice President on the executive committee of the California Water Environment Association board of directors, helping oversee a $6.5 million organizational budget.
I'm not backed by special interests. I'm someone who understands what it means to make tough decisions with limited resources — because I've done it for a living.
Rooted in This Community
I've lived in Solano County for 15 years and Vacaville for the last 6. I brought my family here to be part of this community — and I intend to fight for it.
In addition to professional training and business college courses, I am continuing my education in leadership at Gateway Seminary College. I believe leadership is about service, accountability, and stewardship — not headlines.
In addition to my professional career, I volunteered as a crisis counselor in Solano County, helping individuals and families navigate difficult moments. I also serve as Chairman of Deacons, teach Bible classes, and act as a voluntary administrator at my local Church in Vacaville — where I've learned the importance of servant leadership, accountability, and caring for people beyond politics.
Why I'm Running
Vacaville is a great place to live — but families are being squeezed. Utility bills keep rising. Housing costs are out of reach for working families. Top-down mandates from Sacramento are passed along with little pushback. And too often, City Hall decisions feel disconnected from neighborhood priorities.
I'm running because Vacaville deserves leadership grounded in real-world experience, not political ambition.
I'm running to
- Restore fiscal discipline and demand transparency in city budgets
- Protect public safety and core services before funding symbolic projects
- Push back on unfunded mandates that raise costs for residents
- Respect local control and neighborhood voices
- Make City Hall work for residents — not Sacramento politics or special interests
Vacaville doesn't need more politics. It needs experience, accountability, and local leadership.
